Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Instructions
Cream butter and sugars
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Combine dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
Mix wet and dry ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips
Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Chill the dough
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 190°C.
Scoop and bake cookies
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them 5 cm apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown around the edges.
Cool and serve
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Storage
Store in an airtight container. Cookies can be frozen raw or baked.
