Add chocolate chips

Add 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips and gently fold them into the batter. Once they are mixed through, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips over the top for pools of melted chocolate.

Microwave the mug cake

Microwave the mug cake at around 500W for 40–50 seconds. Start checking it at 40 seconds. The top should look set, but the center should still be soft. Avoid overcooking.
