French Onion Soup
A classic French onion soup—deeply caramelized onions simmered in rich beef broth, topped with toasted baguette and melted Gruyère.

Instructions
Caramelize the onions
Slowly cook onions in butter and oil until deeply golden and sweet.
Add garlic and deglaze
Stir in garlic, then deglaze with white wine.
Simmer the soup
Add broth, herbs and seasonings; simmer until flavors meld.
Prepare the croutons
Toast baguette slices until golden.
Assemble and broil
Ladle soup into bowls, top with toasted bread and cheese, then broil until melted and bubbly.
