127 g
large egg (room_temp)
1 piece
brown sugar
150 g
white sugar
50 g

2.5 g

3 g
cinnamon
3 g
vanilla extract
5 ml
semi-sweet chocolate chips
200 g
Instructions
Brown the butter
Add butter to a saucepan over medium heat and brown it until golden with a nutty smell.
Cool the browned butter
Pour browned butter into a bowl and place in the freezer for 5 minutes until warm, not hot.
Mix wet ingredients
In a large bowl, mash bananas until mostly smooth. Add 1/2 cup browned butter, brown sugar, white sugar, egg, and vanilla. Whisk until glossy.
Add dry ingredients
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Mix very thoroughly until no dry flour remains and everything is evenly distributed.
Fold in chocolate chips
Fold in about 1 cup of chocolate chips. Save the rest for topping.
Prepare loaf pan
Line or grease a loaf pan and pour in the batter. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 175°C.
Bake the banana bread
Bake for 60 minutes, loosely covering with foil halfway through to prevent over-browning.
Check for doneness
Insert a toothpick into the center. It should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter. If needed, bake an extra 5 to 10 minutes.
Cool and slice
Let cool slightly, then slice and enjoy.
