Cook the pasta

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni until al dente.

Prepare the roux

Melt butter in a pan, add minced garlic and sauté briefly, then stir in flour to form a roux.

Gradually whisk in milk until smooth, then add shredded cheddar and stir until melted.
