Instructions
Mix the dry ingredients
Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl until evenly distributed.
Add the wet ingredients
Whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter, then stir them into the dry mixture until just combined.
Steam until set
Transfer the batter to a lightly greased heatproof mold or small pan and steam over medium heat until the cake is puffed and a skewer comes out clean.
Cool and serve
Let the cake cool slightly, unmold it, and serve warm on a plate.
Storage
