Equipment
Ingredients
Hashbrowns
russet potatoes (medium)
4.5 piece
cornstarch
2 tbsp
shredded cheese (shredded)
2 oz
salt
1 tsp
black pepper
0.5 tsp
garlic powder
1.5 tsp
oil
240 ml
Instructions
Prepare the potatoes
Peel the potatoes and place them in a pot. Add enough water to cover the potatoes and season with salt. Boil for about 8 minutes, just until partially cooked. They should still be firm in the center.
Drain, cool, and grate potatoes
Drain the potatoes very well and let them cool until they are easy to handle. Grate them using the large holes of a box grater.
Mix all ingredients
Add the grated potatoes, cornstarch, cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Gently mix until everything is evenly combined.
Form the hashbrowns
Take a portion of the mixture and firmly press it into a thick oval shape. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Heat the oil
Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat to 180°C.
Fry the hashbrowns
Carefully add the hash browns and fry for about 3–4 minutes per side, or until deeply golden and crispy.
Drain and serve
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and let the excess oil drain. Serve the hashbrowns hot and crispy with your favorite dipping sauce.

Storage
Best served immediately after frying. Reheating in oven or air fryer restores crispiness better than microwave.
