Instructions
Prepare ingredients
Bring butter and egg to room temperature for easier mixing and better cookie texture.
Cream butter and sugars
Beat butter with both sugars until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add egg and vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Combine wet and dry ingredients
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips
Gently fold chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
Chill the dough
Cover and refrigerate the dough for 15-30 minutes to prevent spreading.
Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Shape cookies
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 5cm apart.
Bake cookies
Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown but centers are still soft.
Cool cookies
Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
