Glutinous rice

Coconut Sauce

Coconut milk

Rinse the rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch.

Soak the rice

Place the rinsed rice in a bowl and cover with water. Soak for 30 minutes to allow the grains to absorb moisture.

Steam the rice

Drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or banana leaf. Steam over medium heat for 25 minutes until the rice is tender and translucent.

Prepare the coconut sauce

In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.

Combine rice and sauce

Transfer the steamed rice to a bowl. Pour 3/4 of the warm coconut sauce over the rice and gently fold to combine. Let it absorb for 10 minutes.

Prepare the mango

Peel the mangoes and slice them into thin strips or cubes.

Spoon the sticky rice onto plates. Top with mango slices and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce.
