Instructions
Prepare the coating mixtures
Create three separate bowls for the flour coating, milk wash, and panko breadcrumbs.
Coat the mozzarella sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour mixture, then milk, then panko breadcrumbs. Repeat the milk and panko step for extra crispiness.
Freeze the coated sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour to prevent the cheese from leaking during cooking.
Prepare Nashville hot sauce
While the mozzarella sticks are cooking, mix melted butter, hot sauce, cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt, and pickle juice.
Fry the mozzarella sticks
Heat oil to 175°C and fry the frozen mozzarella sticks for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy. Turn occasionally for even cooking.
Air fry the mozzarella sticks
Preheat air fryer to 200°C. Spray frozen sticks with oil, place in single layer, and air fry for 5-7 minutes, turning halfway through.
Apply Nashville hot sauce
Brush the Nashville hot sauce mixture over the freshly cooked mozzarella sticks for the signature spicy finish.
Serve immediately
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with ranch, marinara, or your favorite dipping sauce.
