brioche burger buns

honey

chilli flakes

large potatoes

Instructions

Caramelise the onion

Slice the onion thinly and add to an oiled pan. Fry until soft and browned, then add honey and chilli flakes. Stir and cook for another 15 minutes until fully caramelised.

Onion is ready when deeply golden and sticky. Don't rush this step for best flavour.

Prepare smash burger patties

Season mince meat with salt and pepper. Divide into 4 portions and smash as thin as possible. Fry for 7 minutes until cooked through and browned.

Smash patties immediately after placing in hot pan for crispy edges.

Cook potato chips

Chop potatoes into chips, coat with oil, salt and pepper. Air fry at 180°C for 30 minutes.

Toast buns and assemble

Toast the brioche buns. Layer burgers with caramelised onions, cheese slices, chipotle mayo and shredded lettuce. Wrap in foil.

Melt cheese and warm burgers

Place wrapped burgers back in air fryer for 5 minutes to melt cheese and warm through.
