Preheat oven to 180°C and line a 20x20 cm baking pan with parchment paper.

Melt butter and chocolate

In a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in microwave, melt butter and chopped chocolate together until smooth.

Mix wet ingredients

Add sugar to the melted chocolate-butter mixture and whisk until combined. Then add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.

Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla. Fold gently until just combined - do not overmix.

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
