Preheat oven

Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare two 20 cm cake pans.

Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt.

Cream butter and sugar

In another bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine wet ingredients

Mix milk and vanilla extract together.

Alternate dry and wet ingredients

Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk mixture to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.

Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Hull and slice half the strawberries; reserve the rest whole for decoration.
