450 g

plain flour

475 g

Instructions

1

Prepare frozen Nutella centers

Cut cling wrap into small squares. Scoop ½ teaspoon Nutella onto each square, fold to seal and freeze until solid.

10 min
Make one frozen Nutella center for each cookie you plan to bake
2

Cream butter and sugars

In a large mixing bowl, add cold cubed butter and whisk until slightly creamy. Add both sugars and whisk until well combined and fluffy.

5 min
Butter should be cold but workable - do not let it soften completely
3

Add eggs, vanilla and chocolate

Add eggs, vanilla extract, and chocolate chunks or chips. Whisk until fully incorporated.

3 min
4

Add dry ingredients

Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gently mix until just combined - do not overmix.

4 min
Stop mixing as soon as flour disappears - overmixing leads to tough cookies
5

Portion and stuff cookie dough

Divide dough into 90g balls. Press a frozen Nutella piece into the center of each ball, seal well, and roll into smooth balls.

15 min
Work quickly to prevent Nutella from melting in warm hands
6

Freeze stuffed dough balls

Place stuffed cookie dough balls onto a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.

30 mintimer 30 min
Overnight freezing gives even better texture and prevents spreading
7

Preheat oven

Preheat oven to 180°C.

10 min180°Ctimer 10 min
8

Prepare baking dish

Line any shape baking dish (circle, square, rectangle) with parchment paper. Arrange frozen cookie dough balls leaving space between them.

3 min
Space balls 5cm apart to allow for spreading
9

Bake cookies

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until tops are lightly golden while centers remain soft and gooey.

12 min180°Ctimer 12 min
Do not overbake - centers should look slightly underdone for gooey texture
10

Cool and serve

Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

5 min
Cookies are best served warm when Nutella center is still molten
