Instructions
Brown the butter
Brown the butter in a pan over medium heat until it turns golden and smells nutty, then let it cool completely.
Mix sugars with browned butter
Pour the cooled browned butter into a mixing bowl and combine with brown sugar and granulated sugar until well mixed.
Add wet ingredients
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and heavy cream to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until smooth and glossy.
Form the cookie dough
Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until a soft cookie dough forms, then fold in the chocolate chips.
Prepare the baking pan and first layer
Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Press half of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the pan.
Add Nutella filling
Spread a generous layer of Nutella evenly over the first dough layer.
Add the top dough layer
Flatten the remaining dough with your hands and place it over the Nutella layer, gently spreading to cover the filling completely.
Bake the cookie bars
Bake at 175°C for 20-25 minutes until the edges are set but the center remains slightly soft.
Cool and slice
Let the bars cool slightly before slicing to keep the filling fudgy and gooey inside.
