Instructions

1

Prepare frozen Nutella layer

Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper and spread Nutella into a thin, even square the size of the pan. Freeze until solid.

30 mintimer 30 min
The frozen Nutella layer will create a gooey middle when baked.
2

Preheat oven and prepare pan

Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and line/grease an 8x8 pan with parchment paper.

5 min
3

Mix wet ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, then whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes.

3 min
Vigorous whisking creates a shiny, crackly top on the brownies.
4

Add dry ingredients

Stir in cocoa powder and salt until fully combined. Mix in oil, then gently fold in the flour until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

4 min
Do not overmix the flour to keep brownies fudgy.
5

Assemble brownies

Spread half the batter into the greased pan. Place the frozen Nutella sheet on top, then spread the remaining batter over it to cover completely.

3 min
Work quickly so the Nutella layer doesn't melt.
6

Bake brownies

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick near the center comes out with no wet batter but slightly moist crumbs.

40 min160°Ctimer 40 min
Avoid overbaking for fudgy texture.
7

Cool completely

Let the brownies cool completely before adding toppings.

30 mintimer 30 min
Cooling prevents the topping from melting.
8

Add toppings

Spread a thin layer of Nutella over the cooled brownies, add strawberry slices all over the top, and drizzle with more Nutella.

5 min
Pat strawberries dry to prevent sogginess.
