Slice the onion

Thinly slice the onion using a mandoline or sharp knife.

Form meat balls

Divide the ground beef into 4 oz balls.

Prepare burger sauce

Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, pickle juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl.

Heat the pan

Heat a cast iron or stainless steel pan on medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes until hot.

Place meat balls on pan

Place the meat balls on the hot pan and season generously with salt and pepper.

Smash the burgers

Add a small handful of sliced onions on top of each meat ball, then smash down hard with a spatula to create thin patties.

Add cheese and buns
