Prepare the patties

Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and shape into two equal patties.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the patties until cooked through, about 4 minutes per side.

Toast the buns

Lightly toast the burger buns in the same pan.

Assemble the burgers

Place the patty on the bottom bun, add cheese, onion, tomato and lettuce, then top with the second half of the bun.
