Chocolate Layer Cake with Vanilla Frosting

cacao powder

baking powder

milk
250 ml
eggs

Vanilla Frosting
caster sugar
150 g
milk
60 ml
vanilla extract
5 ml
Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease two 20 cm round cake pans.
Mix dry ingredients
Sift flour, cacao powder, baking powder and sugar into a large bowl.
Add wet ingredients
Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla extract until smooth batter forms.
Bake layers
Divide batter between pans and bake 30 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool cakes
Remove cakes from oven and cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to rack.
Make frosting
Whisk caster sugar, milk and vanilla extract until creamy frosting forms.
Assemble cake
Place one layer on plate, spread half frosting, top with second layer and remaining frosting.
Storage
Wrap tightly in plastic wrap for freezing
