all-purpose flour (sifted)

granulated sugar

Preheat oven and prepare pan

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line a 20cm round cake pan with parchment paper.

Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Beat eggs and sugar

In a separate large bowl, beat eggs and sugar on high speed for 5-7 minutes until pale and fluffy.

Add melted butter

Gradually pour in the cooled melted butter while mixing on low speed.

Add milk and vanilla

Mix in milk and vanilla extract until just combined.

Combine wet and dry ingredients

Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture in 3 additions, being careful not to overmix.
