Chocolate Layer Cake with Vanilla Syrup
Ingredients
Cake Batter
All-purpose flour
200 g
Sugar
150 g
Eggs

Milk
120 ml
Butter
80 g
Baking powder

Vanilla Syrup
Sugar

Water
300 ml
Vanilla extract
15 ml
Chocolate Ganache
Milk chocolate
150 g
Dark chocolate
100 g
Heavy cream
200 ml
Instructions
Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 200°C with both top and bottom heating elements on.
Prepare the cake batter
Mix flour, sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter and baking powder until smooth.
Bake the cake
Pour batter into a greased pan and bake at 180°C with bottom heat only for 15-20 minutes. Then turn on top heat for 5-8 minutes to brown the top.
Make vanilla syrup
Combine sugar and water in a pot, bring to a boil, remove from heat and cool. Add vanilla extract.
Prepare chocolate ganache
Heat cream and pour over chopped milk and dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
Assemble the cake
Soak the cooled cake with vanilla syrup, then spread the chocolate ganache evenly on top.
