Instructions
Prepare ingredients and workspace
Bring butter and eggs to room temperature. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cream butter and sugar
In a mixing bowl, cream together the room-temperature butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, corn starch, and salt.
Combine wet and dry ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
Divide the dough
Split the dough into two equal portions. Add cocoa powder to one portion and mix until uniform in color.
Shape the cookies
Roll small balls of dough (about 2 cm diameter) and gently flatten each ball with your thumb or a small object to create the button shape. Use a toothpick to make 2-4 small holes in the center like real buttons.
Bake the cookies
Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 180°C for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
Cool and serve
Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
