Instructions
Prepare ingredients
Slice onions thinly, cut chicken into strips, mince garlic, and grate parmesan cheese.
Caramelize the onions
Heat olive oil and butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly until deeply caramelized, stirring occasionally.
Cook the chicken
Push caramelized onions to one side of the pan. Add chicken strips and sear until golden on all sides.
Add garlic and spices
Add minced garlic, crushed red pepper, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Stir and cook until fragrant.
Cook the pasta
Meanwhile, cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente.
Make the creamy sauce
Pour heavy cream into the pan with onions and chicken. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
Combine and finish
Drain the cooked pasta and add it directly to the pan with the sauce. Toss to coat evenly, then stir in grated parmesan cheese until melted.
Serve
Divide pasta between plates and serve immediately while hot.
