Instructions
Sauté aromatics
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
Brown the meat
Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink.
Add liquids and pasta
Pour in marinara sauce and water, then add uncooked spaghetti, breaking it in half if needed to fit the pot.
Simmer until pasta is done
Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente and sauce has thickened.
Serve
Remove from heat. Stir in grated parmesan and chopped basil if using. Serve immediately.
