Instructions
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 175°C and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugars
In a large bowl, beat softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
Combine wet and dry ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips
Gently fold chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
Shape the cookies
Scoop dough into balls (about 2 tbsp each) and place on prepared baking sheets.
Bake the cookies
Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are golden but centers still look slightly underdone.
Cool the cookies
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Store in an airtight container. Freeze dough balls for up to 3 months and bake from frozen.
