Instructions
Cut the mozzarella
Cut the mozzarella block into sticks approximately 1 cm thick and 8-10 cm long.
Prepare the coating station
Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
First coating
Dredge each mozzarella stick first in flour, then in beaten egg, shaking off excess between each step.
Second coating
Return the sticks to the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned breadcrumbs for a double coating.
Freeze the sticks
Place the coated sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 15-20 minutes until firm.
Heat the oil
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 180°C (350°F) for frying.
Fry the mozzarella sticks
Fry the frozen mozzarella sticks in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Drain and serve
Remove the fried sticks and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately while hot and melty.
Storage
Best served immediately, but can be reheated to restore crispiness. Freeze uncooked sticks for up to 1 month.
Notes
• The double coating creates an extra thick and crispy crust
• Freezing before frying is essential to prevent cheese from leaking
• Serve with warm marinara sauce for the classic experience
