Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat your oven to 190°C.
Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.
Mix wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
Combine wet and dry
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry & mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 mins, until smooth.
Shape the dough
Roll the dough into a log about 30 cm long and 8 cm wide. Slice it in half lengthwise, then cut across 5-6 times to create bite-sized pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
Coat the dough balls
Toss the dough balls with the melted butter, sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated.
Arrange in baking dish
Arrange the dough balls in a greased oven-safe skillet or dish.
Prepare cinnamon butter
If using, microwave the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until melted, then stir. Pour it over the balls. Drizzle the cream over the top if using.
Bake the bites
Bake for 10-12 mins, or until puffed & lightly golden.
Prepare the glaze
While baking, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, & a splash of milk until smooth.
Cool and glaze
Let them cool for a few mins, pour over the icing and enjoy!
