Instructions
Preheat and prepare pan
Preheat oven to 175°C and line an 20×20 cm baking pan with parchment paper.
Melt butter
Melt butter in a saucepan or microwave until fully liquid.
Mix wet ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.
Add dry ingredients
Sift in flour, cocoa powder and salt. Stir gently until just combined — do not overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips
Fold in chocolate chips if using.
Bake
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
Cool and cut
Let brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing into 9 squares.
