Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 190°C and grease a 38x25 cm jelly roll pan or 23x33 cm baking dish.
Whisk dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
Cream butter and sugars
In a large bowl, cream softened butter with granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
Add eggs
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.
Combine wet and dry
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips
Fold in 1 3/4 cups of the chocolate chips, reserving the rest for topping.
Press dough into pan
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top and gently press them in.
Bake the bars
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
Cool completely
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
