Prepare oranges

Wash and zest the oranges, then juice them for the cake and syrup.

Cream butter and sugar

Beat softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs

Beat in eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.

Mix dry ingredients

Whisk together flour and baking powder.

Combine wet and dry ingredients

Alternate adding the dry mixture and orange juice to the butter mixture, then fold in orange zest and vanilla.

Pour batter into a greased pan and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
