Instructions
Brown the butter
Melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat until it turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma.
Cool the browned butter
Remove browned butter from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Mix sugars with browned butter
In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, white sugar, and cooled browned butter.
Add eggs and vanilla
Add whole egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
Add dry ingredients
Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips
Gently fold chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
Bake the cookies
Scoop dough onto baking sheet and bake at 175°C for 11-12 minutes until edges are golden.
