firm tofu (drained, pressed)

Thai basil (fresh)

red bell pepper (sliced)

yellow onion (sliced)

garlic cloves (minced)

Thai chili peppers (sliced)

soy sauce

oyster sauce

15 ml

brown sugar

Instructions

Prepare the tofu

Cut the pressed tofu into 2cm cubes for even cooking.

Fry the tofu

Heat oil in a pan and fry tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides.

Don't stir too often - let tofu develop a nice crust

Prepare vegetables

Slice onion, bell pepper, mince garlic and slice chilies.

Stir-fry aromatics

In the same pan, add garlic and chilies, stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add vegetables

Add onion and bell pepper, stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

Add sauces

Add soy sauce, oyster sauce and brown sugar, mix well with vegetables.

Return tofu to pan

Add the fried tofu back to the pan and gently toss to coat with sauce.

Add Thai basil

Turn off heat and add Thai basil, stirring until just wilted.

Serve immediately over steamed rice with lime wedges on the side.
