Instructions
Prepare the Garlic
Peel garlic cloves and roast them for milder flavor, or mince finely for stronger garlic taste.
Mix the Dough
Combine flour and salt, then add sourdough starter, warm water, mashed garlic, and olive oil. Mix until no dry patches remain.
Let the Dough Rest
Cover bowl and let dough rest at room temperature for 8-10 hours until soft, airy, and slightly puffy.
Shape the Dough
Turn dough onto floured surface, fold edges toward center to form round or oval shape. Place seam side down on parchment paper.
Second Rise
Cover dough and let rest 1-2 hours until slightly puffed. Meanwhile preheat oven to 230°C with Dutch oven inside.
Bake the Bread
Transfer dough to hot Dutch oven, score top, cover and bake 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake additional 10-15 minutes until deep golden brown.
Add Garlic Butter
Melt butter with minced garlic, cook gently for 1 minute. Brush hot bread with garlic butter and sprinkle with parsley or Parmesan.
Cool and Serve
Cool bread for at least 30 minutes before slicing to finish cooking inside and maintain perfect texture.
Storage
Store at room temperature 2-3 days. Slice and freeze for up to 3 months. Toast frozen slices directly.
