15 ml

soy sauce

30 ml

garlic (minced)

2 cloves

fresh ginger (grated)

1 tsp

cornstarch

15 g

green onions (sliced)

2 stalks

Instructions

1

Press the tofu

Remove excess moisture from tofu by pressing between kitchen towels with a weight on top for 10 minutes.

10 min
Pressing removes water and helps tofu absorb flavors better
2

Cut and season tofu

Slice pressed tofu into 1cm thick rectangles and season with soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

5 min
Cut uniform pieces for even cooking
3

Coat with cornstarch

Lightly dust each tofu piece with cornstarch on all sides for a crispy exterior.

2 min
Shake off excess cornstarch to avoid clumps
4

Fry the tofu

Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat and fry tofu pieces until golden and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Garnish and serve

Transfer crispy tofu to a plate and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot with rice or vegetables.

1 min
Serve immediately for maximum crispiness

Storage

Fridge: 3 days
Reheat: Pan-fry 2-3 minutes per side to restore crispiness

Best consumed fresh, reheating may reduce crispiness

Notes

Press tofu well for best texture

Cornstarch creates the signature crispy coating

Works great in stir-fries or as a salad topping
