Prepare equipment and ingredients
Preheat oven to 90°C and prepare baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whip egg whites
Place egg whites in a clean bowl and whip until soft peaks form.
Add sugar gradually
Gradually add sugar while continuing to whip until stiff, glossy peaks form.
Add vanilla
Add vanilla extract and whip briefly to combine.
Pipe meringue
Pipe small meringue kisses onto the prepared baking sheet.
Add optional topping
Crush Oreo cookies without cream and sprinkle on meringues if desired.
Bake meringues
Bake at 90°C for 90–120 minutes until completely dry and crisp.
Cool completely
Turn off oven and let meringues cool inside with door slightly ajar.
