Instructions
Caramelise the onions
Slice the onion thinly and add to an oiled pan over medium heat. Fry until soft and browned, about 10 minutes. Add honey and chilli flakes, stir well, and cook for another 15 minutes until completely caramelised.
Prepare smash burger patties
Season mince meat with salt and pepper. Divide into 4 equal portions. Heat a pan over high heat, smash each portion as thin as possible using a spatula, and fry for 7 minutes until cooked through and browned on both sides.
Cook potato chips
Chop potatoes into chips (fries). Toss with oil, salt, and pepper. Place in air fryer and cook at 180°C for 30 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Toast buns and assemble
Toast the brioche buns. Layer each burger with smash patty, caramelised onions, cheese slice, chipotle mayonnaise, and shredded lettuce. Wrap assembled burgers in foil.
Melt cheese and warm burgers
Place wrapped burgers back in the air fryer for 5 minutes to melt the cheese and warm through. Serve with potato chips.
