Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare two 20cm cake pans by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
Mix cake batter
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then alternate adding flour mixture and milk.
Bake cake layers
Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool the cakes
Remove cakes from oven and let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare frosting
Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until light and fluffy.
Assemble the cake
Place one cooled cake layer on a serving plate. Spread frosting on top, add second layer, then frost the entire cake.
